This Portola Valley home was designed and built for an incredible couple that chose design-build over an architecture firm. The home was designed with the utmost attention to detail and thoughtfulness toward their lifestyle. This one-of-a-kind property enjoys sweeping views along the hills and Bay Area. This home features many unique elements as a direct result of personal touches the couple wanted including a basement movie theater. In the master bedroom, Timeline worked with the homeowner to determine where the sunrise would be at every time of year. As someone that wanted to rise with the sun, he wanted to position the bed and the windows in such a way he will never miss a sunrise.
French Provincial

Wonderfully designed with French architectural elements in a flag-lot near Downtown Menlo Park. This client wanted the feel of a grandiose estate while still blending in with the neighborhood. This home features three-levels accented with a curved stairwell to the second floor and a curved stairwell to the basement. Once complete, the entryway will stop anyone in their tracks as the detail on every wall is extremely captivating and intricate.
Contemporary Redwood Prairie

Nestled in a cul-de-sac in Los Altos, this contemporary design solution integrates the comforts of modern living with traditional building materials. Influenced by the design philosophies of the Prairie school Architects over a century ago, this unique home in Los Altos brings some of the elements in nature to its sharp geometry. Volumes in stone and wood play an aesthetic dance between the tall redwoods. Its large windows allow natural light on the inside and create a connection to the outdoors, even in the basement is fully daylit. Our modern Prairie home was designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, and it incorporates elements such as terraces, trellises, and gardens to create a sense of unity between the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Timeline’s in-house architecture team worked with the homeowners to design a contemporary, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home. Matthew Harrigan proposed constructing the entry arch as a unique design element that thoughtfully frames the home. Since this home is built on a hillside, Timeline designed a walk-out basement creating flow between the built structure and its environment. One of the main design elements of the home was the inclusion of natural light. As you tour the home, you will notice the use of floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and windows elegantly complementing the contemporary architectural style. The beautifully raised atrium roof with clerestory windows above the stairwell brings more light to the interior spaces.

After building the home for the couple’s parents, Timeline was given the opportunity to design and build a home truly curated to their preferences. Drawing upon inspiration from a trip in Mexico, they wished to recreate this memorable architecture that is not nearly as common as other styles found in Los Altos. One of the constraints Timeline designed the house around was the avocado tree located along the side yard. Instead of placing the dining room along the side yard near the avocado tree, Timeline opted to put the dining area in the center of the home. The decision to put the dining in the center opened the door to the hand-crafted chandelier that spans the second and main floor. With the idea that this home will be multi-generational and multi-level, Timeline installed an elevator so that any floor can be easily accessible.
